Howdy!
This is my first real post here (not counting the test ones). If you are reading this, you probably found me through Bluesky, YouTube, or maybe I sent you a link to my portfolio site.
If you are part of a game studio that is hiring, I have likely pointed you here to check out my work. You can find my portfolio under Games, or read a bit about my background in the About section.
Lately, I have been enjoying some time at home with my newborn, but it is about time his dad found a full-time job again.
During little one’s nap times, I have been diving into two personal projects: one in Unreal Engine 5 and one in Godot. They are very different, but both are rewarding to work on. The UE5 project is further along, mostly because UE5 is such a marketable skill set these days. Still, my real passion project is Bound in Time, my Godot game.
It has been a while since I did major development work on it. The last big update was rebuilding the battle screen after moving away from Unity. Even so, I am constantly thinking about new time-based puzzles and story beats. It has been a great way to keep the game’s design moving forward without always being in front of a computer.
The Unreal Engine project started as a way to learn as much as I can about UE5 while making something fun to play with friends. At its core, it is your typical multiplayer survival game with simple fundamentals to get a baseline working. The twist is that you can throw anything and everything into a pit to earn rewards like items, upgrade points, and mana. Eventually, you gain the power to start a village or even a kingdom, with the magical pit as your source of strength. Over time, the game shifts from wilderness survival into kingdom management while keeping all the survival elements intact. If you have played Black & White, you might notice a bit of inspiration creeping in.
I will be posting updates on both games here, with smaller updates over on Bluesky. And if you want to reach out, please do. Even solo projects are better when they are not made in isolation.
Take care!
